COUNCIL OF EUROPE CALLS FOR MEMBER STATES TO BAN SEAL IMPORTS

Earlier today, the Council of Europe meeting in San Marino passed a recommendation concerning seal hunting which included calls to end all cruel hunting methods (such as the hakapik) and that members and observers should ‘promote initiatives aimed at prohibiting the import and marketing of seal-derived products.’

New EU Trade Resolution to Protect Seals Welcomed

Respect for Animals, the Humane Society International (UK) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) today (6 September) welcome a new European Parliament resolution backing a ban on seal products as a vital step towards ending Canada’s cruel commercial seal hunt.
