Today the 13 boats in the Gulf of St Lawrence began picking off the few baby seals that had managed to avoid drowning as the ice melted around them.

The hunt is due to begin today in the northern Gulf of St Lawrence. Approximately 13 boarts are ready to begin their bloody business at first light (approximately 6am local time).
