Mink Farming to Be Banned by The World’s Third Largest Producing Country

To come into effect the bill still has to pass one last hurdle and be approved by the Dutch Senate.  Their decision is expected before the end of the year.

If it is voted through, the ban will be subject to a 10 year phase out period meaning it would come into effect in 2018 (the bill was first discussed in 2008).

This breakthrough follows years of campaigning by Bont voor Dieren (Fur for Animals) in The Netherlands.  Thanks to their efforts, fox and chinchilla farming is already banned in the Netherlands.

Our key goals

Respect for Animals campaigns against the cruel and unnecessary international fur trade, believing fur farming and trapping to be morally indefensible.
